Short answers to the questions that come up most often. Each one links to the page that covers it properly.

Is the Enhanced Remaster a new game?

No. It is a DLC for the 2018 4K/HD Edition on Steam (app 645730), sold as app 4996080 for $9.99. It adds graphics options and a 2x speed toggle, not new content. The what's new page lists every change.

Do I need to own the base game?

Yes. The DLC does nothing on its own, and it does not appear as a separate game in your library.

I bought it and nothing is downloading

That was a known launch fault. tri-Ace posted a fix on 30 October 2026 and said affected purchases would download automatically with no need to buy again. The DLC install fix page has the notice and a seven-step checklist.

Does the DLC add achievements?

No. The game has 47 achievements, all from the base game. The achievements page lists all of them with current global completion rates.

How long is the game?

A prologue plus 16 chapters, with a world map you rebuild by hand and a large optional layer. The achievement data is a decent proxy for how long people last: 7.6% finish, and the biggest drop-off is inside the first chapter.

Why can't I kill anything with the machine gun?

Because machine guns only deal scratch damage, which cannot kill. Handguns and grenades convert scratch into direct damage, and that is what removes health bars. The combat system page explains the loop in one table.

Can I play on a console?

This site covers the Steam (Windows) release only. The Japanese official site lists a PlayStation release line for End of Eternity Enhanced Remaster; console storefronts are their own products and this site does not cover them.

What are the system requirements?

The Enhanced Remaster listing asks for Windows 11, an i5-3330 or FX-8350, a GTX 650 Ti or HD 7770, DirectX 12 and 90 GB of storage, targeting 1280x720 with anti-aliasing off. The system requirements page puts both store listings side by side.

Is there a New Game Plus?

Yes, offered immediately after the final boss. Same difficulty keeps nearly everything; higher difficulty keeps very little and advances one tier on a ten-tier ladder that ends at Zenith. See New Game Plus.

Can I still do side missions after beating the game?

No. The ending plays and the game does not return you to Basel. Finish optional content before the final fight. See chapter 16.

Where do I learn the combat system properly?

The Arena has 16 tutorials, available from chapter 1, identical to the manual. They are free and they cover charging, scratch damage, Hero Actions, the Tri-Attack, body parts, gauge breaking, bonus shots and smackdown. See arena.

Does 2x Game Speed affect combat?

It doubles the pace of play, which shortens your reaction windows in timing-based fights. Most players leave it on while travelling and off during first boss attempts. See 2x Game Speed.
