Chapter 16: the Basilica and its three bosses
Garigliano, Antourion and Rowen, in that order. Killing the final boss ends the game, so finish side missions and spend Arena coins first.
Chapter 16 is the endgame. Three bosses, one of them the final fight, a point of no return after the last one, and the game's only source of black energy hexes.

What you get at the start
The chapter opens with a cutscene that hands you Green Energy Hex x3 and Blue Energy Hex x4, plus the mission: head to the Basilica of Chandelier on Level 1.
Those hexes are not decoration. The Basilica's grid is the last map puzzle in the game, and the coloured hexes you were given are the ones that open it.
The three bosses
| Boss | Notes |
|---|---|
| Garigliano | First of the three, and one of the two black-hex sources |
| Antourion | Second, and the other black-hex source |
| Rowen | The final boss of the game |
You can leave the Basilica to save and resupply in Ebel City after defeating each boss. That is the most useful structural fact in the chapter: it is not one long gauntlet, it is three fights with a shop trip in between.
Black hexes and Neverland
Antourion and Garigliano drop the black energy hexes that unlock Neverland on Level 12. Neverland holds the golden weapon variants — the 1191.45 Golden handgun, the B-N84 Golden, the SG-B226 Golden and the NP.05 Golden SMG among them — which is why the Kings Of Neverland achievement sits at 2.9% completion.
If you want those weapons, kill the first two bosses, take the black hexes, and go to Neverland before you finish the chapter. After the final boss there is no free roam.
The point of no return
This is the chapter's one trap:
- Beating Rowen ends the game.
- The ending plays immediately; the game does not return you to the base.
- Side missions cannot be completed after the final boss.
- You are offered New Game Plus straight away.
So: clear every side mission you care about before you start the final fight, and spend your Arena coins, because the higher-difficulty New Game Plus route does not carry them. The chapter's own optional missions are worth 20 and 15 Hunter Points plus an Expander Super Barrel and a Long Scope Elite — both parts you would otherwise buy.
Preparation checklist
- Levels. The recommended-route player is usually in the eighties by the Basilica. If you are far below that, the Arena is faster than random encounters.
- Two working guns per character. Weight limits are not a constraint by this point; if they are, you skipped levels.
- A powered terminal network for the district you are fighting in. Doubled charge speed changes boss fights more than any single part.
- Bezels banked. Trash fights in the Basilica are free Bezels; spend them on Rowen.
- A manual save before the last fight, in one of the 50 slots.
After the credits
You get the New Game Plus offer. Same difficulty keeps your gear, levels, money and Arena progress; higher difficulty resets most of it and advances the difficulty ladder one tier. The New Game Plus page has the full retention list and the enemy scaling table.
